How To Calculate The Concrete Volume for Stairs

We calculate the concrete volume for stairs by using some given data. Given data is used just for example to better learn. Normally the Calculation for concrete is the main parts Landing Slab, Waist Slab, Riser, and tread.

Concrete For Landing Slab

Concrete For Waist Slab

Concrete For Riser

Concrete For Tread

Given Data For Emaple

Length of the landing = 1000mm = 1m

Width of the landing = 900mm = 0.900m

Thickness of the landing = 200mm = 0.200m

Number of the Landing slab = 2  (bottom and top)

Height of Landing OR Stair From Top To Bottom = H= 1300mm = 1.3m

Length of the stairs =B=  2000mm=2m

Width of the waist slab = 1000mm = 1m

The thickness of the waist slab = 150mm = 0.150m

width of the step = 1000mm = 1m

Riser Size =h =  162.50mm = 0.162m

Tread Size = b =  250mm = 0.250m

Solution

1st Step

How To Calculate The Number of Risers

Calculate the Number of Risers = Stair Height / Risers Height

Calculate the Number of Risers = 1300 / 162.50 = 8.02 = 8Numbers

How to Calculate the Number of Treads

Calculate the Number of Treads = length of the stairs / Sixe of Tread

Calculate the Number of Treads = 2000 / 250 = 8 Numbers

Now we calculate the concrete for the landing slab

Concrete For Landing Slab

Concrete for landing slab = Number of landing × Volume of the landing slab

The volume of the landing slab = length × width ×  thickness

The volume of the landing slab = 1000 ×  900 ×  200 = 0.18m³

Concrete for landing slab = 2 × 0.18 = 0.36m³

2nd Step

Concrete For Waist Slab

Concrete for the waist slab = Length  ×  width  ×  thickness

Now we calculate the Length of the Waist Slab using Pythagoras’ theorem

Pythagoras’ theorem         W² = B² + H²

length of the stair =B= 2000 = 2m

Height of the shair= H= 1300 = 1.3m

W =?

W²    =    B²     +     H²

W²    =    2² + 1.3²

W²   =  5.69

Taking Both Sides Uderroot (√)

√W²   =  √ 5.69

W   =   2.385m          This is the length of the waist

Concrete for the waist slab = Length  ×  width  ×  thickness

Concrete for the waist slab = 2.385 × 1 × 0.150

Concrete for the waist slab = 0.357m³

Concrete for the Riser And Tread

The number of the riser and tread is the same so we use them to make a like one triangle prism. we use the formula of triangle prism for the calculation of the concrete for the riser and tread one time,

Length of the Riser and tread = 1000mm = 1m

Size of the Riser = h = 160.5m m=0.160m

Size of the tread = b = 250mm = 0.250m

Numbers of riser and tread = 8 Numbrs

The formula for volume of prism =1/2[ length × height  × thickness]

Concrete volume for the riser and tread= 1/2 [1 × 0.160 × 0.250]

Concrete volume for the riser and tread= 0.02m²

Total Concrete volume for the riser and tread= Concrete volume for the riser and tread × Numbers

Total Concrete volume for the riser and tread= 0.02 × 8 =0.16m³

Total concrete volume for the stair

Total concrete volume for the stairs = Landing Slab + Waist Slab + Riser And Tread

Total concrete volume for the stairs = 0.36 + 0.357 + 0.16 = 0.877m³ Approximately says 1m³
